Terms of Service
Effective date: 11 October 2026
These terms cover the Oxcart app and the website at oxcart.cc. By downloading, installing or using Oxcart, or by buying a license, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Oxcart.
Who we are
Oxcart is made and licensed by Charles Martens, 13627 SW 112th LN, Miami, FL 33186, USA, an individual (“we”, “us”). Paddle sells it to you (see below).
Contact: support@oxcart.cc (help), billing@oxcart.cc (purchases and refunds), privacy@oxcart.cc (personal data), legal@oxcart.cc (legal notices), security@oxcart.cc (vulnerabilities).
What Oxcart is
Oxcart is a desktop app for Macs with Apple silicon, running macOS 26 or later. It runs Docker-compatible containers on your Mac. It does not run on Intel Macs or older macOS versions.
Buying a license: Paddle is the seller
Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries for orders and handles returns.
When you buy a license or an upgrade, you buy it from Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd, or Paddle.com Inc. for some regions), not from us. Paddle takes payment, charges and pays the applicable sales tax or VAT, sends your invoice, and processes refunds and chargebacks. Paddle’s Buyer Terms apply to your purchase, and Paddle’s Privacy Notice explains how Paddle handles your payment data. If those terms conflict with these on the purchase itself (payment, tax, withdrawal rights), Paddle’s win. For everything else, including how you may use Oxcart, these terms apply.
Price and what a license covers
- $20 USD per user for one major version of Oxcart (for example 1.x). Prices are in US dollars; Paddle calculates any sales tax or VAT and shows it at checkout.
- A license belongs to one person, identified by their email address. It covers up to 5 Macs at a time. You can free a slot by deactivating a Mac in the app or the license portal.
- A license for major version N also covers earlier versions (0.x counts as version 1).
- All minor and patch updates within a major version are free.
- A new major version is a new product version. Upgrading from the previous major costs $15 USD. You don’t have to upgrade; your license keeps working for the version you bought.
- Licenses don’t expire. A license works offline once activated.
- After a new major version is released, we may continue to provide fixes for serious security issues in the previous major version for about 60 days, on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any fixes for previous versions.
Free trial
You can use Oxcart with every feature for 60 days from first launch of a major version, with no payment details. The trial is tracked on your Mac. After it ends without a license, Oxcart still works, but containers run in 15-minute sessions and then stop. You can start a new session straight away; there is no waiting period. A license removes that limit.
Activating a license
Activation sends a one-time link to the email on the license. The app then contacts oxcart.cc about once a week to confirm the license is still valid. If a license is refunded, revoked or deactivated, the Mac returns to trial/limited mode the next time it checks in. See the Privacy Policy for what is sent.
Your licence to use Oxcart
Subject to these terms and payment of any fee, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Oxcart on the Macs your license covers, for personal or business use.
Oxcart is proprietary software; all rights are reserved. This is a license to use it, not a sale of it. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, sell, rent or redistribute Oxcart, except as the law allows despite this term or as we agree in writing.
Oxcart includes third-party components (for example the Docker CLI, Compose, Buildx, containerd, runc, BuildKit, the Linux kernel, Debian packages, Sparkle and SwiftTerm). They are governed by their own licenses, not these terms, and nothing here limits your rights under them. The list and license texts are at oxcart.cc/notices and ship inside the app.
What you may not do
- Don’t use a license on more Macs than it covers, or share a license between people.
- Don’t bypass or tamper with licensing or the trial limit.
- Don’t use Oxcart to break the law or to harm others.
- Don’t try to attack our servers (oxcart.cc) or overload them.
Your containers and data
Your containers, images, volumes and files stay on your Mac. We don’t see them and don’t have access to them. You are responsible for what you run, for backups, and for the licences of the software and images you pull. Images are pulled from registries you choose, under those registries’ terms.
Updates
Oxcart checks oxcart.cc for updates and can install them automatically if you turn that on. You can turn automatic updates off in Settings.
Export controls and sanctions
You may not use Oxcart if you are in, or ordinarily resident in, a country subject to comprehensive US or EU sanctions, or on a government restricted-party list.
Age
You must be at least 16 years old to buy a license.
No warranty
Oxcart is provided “as is” and “as available”. Oxcart is an experimental product at version 0.x; it may have bugs, including bugs that lose data in containers. We don’t promise it will meet your needs or run without interruption. Back up what matters.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Refunds
See the Refund Policy. Paddle processes refunds.
Ending your license
You can stop using Oxcart at any time. We may revoke a license if you break these terms or if a payment is reversed or refunded. A refund of any purchase, including an upgrade, cancels the whole license (Refund Policy). Revocation takes effect when your Mac next checks in.
Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with a dated notice and a new effective date, and for material changes we’ll also email license holders, and changes apply to new purchases and to your continued use after that date. A change to the price never affects a license you’ve already bought.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, and the state and federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida can hear disputes. If you are a consumer, for example in the EU or UK, you keep the mandatory rights your local law gives you. For the purchase itself, Paddle’s Buyer Terms say which law applies.
Everything else
These terms and the pages they link to are the whole agreement between us about Oxcart. If part of it is unenforceable, the rest stays. Not enforcing a term isn’t a waiver of it. You may not transfer your license without our written consent. We may transfer these terms in a sale of the business.
